I am a vivacious and funny recent college graduate. I have always loved children and as the oldest cousin, I have had plenty of experience babysitting from a young age. In college for a time I lived with a family who had a 5 year old son. I found babysitting him to be an utter joy. I have been both a TA and a summer high school teacher at NYU so I have some experience with teaching and lesson planning. With younger children I’ve often found the most effective teaching methods to be making a game out of the lessons. One boy I babysat seemed especially excited two work on reading (usually his least favorite subject) when I was willing to make a complete fool of myself for the sake of his learning. In my experience there is nothing more effective to get a reluctant reader excited about words than to dramatically act out every verb they successfully sound out! I grew up with variety of pets, particularly dogs so I am definitely pet friendly! I am happy to stay over as needed, however I have a 20 lb mini Aussie named Blue who I need to care for. If you have a dog friendly house hold that would be amazing, if not I can make other arrangements.
