Write a messageMy name is Jen Lyu, and anyone who knows me will tell you the thing I love most in the world is hanging out with babies and kids. I am looking for part-time babysitting work while I transition out of graduate school and search for a brand new career. I learned during my PhD program that I do not want to be a professor or researcher, so I’m taking some time to find a new path that suits my interests and skills better.
I graduated in 2014 from Emory University, where I studied psychology and economics. I was heavily involved in cognitive psychology research during my undergrad years, even publishing a paper on spatial and numerical development. As a college student, I worked as a pre-school teacher at Emory’s Autism Center, and I babysat for the 9-year old son of the Director of the CDC, Tom Friedan. Post-graduation, I worked as a full-time researcher in early childhood education/cognitive development at the University of Chicago. In 2017, I was a nanny/personal assistant for a single mom of a 12-year old. I did school pick-up, driving to extracurriculars, laundry, cooking, etc. Importantly, I gained the communication and interpersonal skills required to work smoothly in another person’s home.
I love working on cooking projects with kids, especially picky eaters. I myself was super picky and have had to train myself! I also have a dog and am comfortable with all pets. Please let me know if you’d like to set up a time to chat!
Best,
Jen Lyu
