My name is Isabel Thielen. I come from a big family from Caracas, Venezuela. Being among the oldest of 20 cousins, I’m used to babysitting from a very young age. When I was 16, I got my first job as a counselor in day camp where I work every summer for 5 years. (@camplanaciente). This job demanded a constant planning of fun games and activities including sports, arts, theater, cooking and survival skills.

I always enjoyed spending time with kids; nurturing their imagination, curiosity and natural optimism. Right after graduation, BA in Communications with a Minor in Visual Arts, I moved to New York to look for new opportunities. I landed a part time job working in the Communications department in a non- profit dedicated to bring access to healthy food and physical education programs to schools. (@genyouthnow)

It’s no coincidence that, again, I’m working at a job that involves motivating kids. Helping children achieve their goals, and being able to tell their stories, is constantly giving me hope for a brighter future.
