I am a new college graduate that has been babysitting since I was about fourteen years old, and I have worked in many settings with children. For example, for two consecutive summers I worked as a day camp counselor in Connecticut, working with children aged five to twelve. There I implemented fun learning activities with children and helped them to develop team building skills. I also have experience working with children with different disabilities through this job, including Autism Spectrum Disorder. I have experience working as an after-school program coordinator in Ohio, where I went to college. In high school I worked in a pre-school that was located in my high school through my child development classes. I have credits in child develop and have also volunteered at Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center on the pediatrics floor as a child life specialist shadow, helping take care of children in the hospital setting. I love working with children and plan to go into the child protective services field eventually, but am moving back home to New York for awhile. I create fun and educational activities and love doing arts and crafts with children as I believe it helps them develop creative skills, motor skills, and independence. I am organized and professional, but also love some humor and fun in the child-care realm. I had to complete a first -aid training for my day-camp counselor position, and also had to complete a certification for Autism Spectrum Disorder through my classes at school.
