Hi – my name is Eliza Bell and I am a thoughtful, reliable, and responsible babysitter with over 10 year of experience mentoring and caring for children. Ive been working as weekly mentor at local schools, social service organizations, and volunteer programs since I was 14, primarily with children ages 6-14 struggling with schoolwork, social skills, or family life. I also spent a number of years working as a daycare manager, summer camp counselor, and family babysitter throughout high-school and college. Ive worked primarily with toddlers and children in elementary or middle school, but I love kids of all ages. I am currently a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York, so I attend regular training, check-ins, and interviews with social workers and am also CPR / First Aid Certified.

I really enjoy making kids laugh and encouraging them to be themselves. It is important to me that children are given the tools and ability to safely grow and think as individuals without judgement – so I always try to create and inclusive atmosphere by setting limits with positive discipline, praise, and encouragement. I find it easy to connect with children by always meeting them at their comfort and interest levels and actively listening and engaging with them. When its nice out, I love taking children outside to play games, explore or do fun activities, but Im also always happy to spend the day inside doing arts and crafts, cooking, coloring, reading, or playing games and puzzles. I think it is important for children to try different activities, use their imagination, and expand their horizons, and I being a part of that. I also love helping children learn and excel in school, whether it’s helping kids complete their schoolwork, study or review class materials, develop new organizational or study skills, or practice reading, writing or arithmetic.

I work from 8:00am to 5:30pm, Mondays through Fridays at the New York based non-profit organization, Concordia; I hold a Bachelors degree in Foreign Affairs and Art History from the University of Virginia, awarded in 2017. In my free time, I love spending time outside – hiking, walking, running, fishing, exploring New York – as well as reading, cooking, spending time with friends, and doing jigsaw and logic puzzles on my couch.
