The philosophy of education upon which our school program is based, is our belief that education is the harmonious development of all the powers of the individual child combined. We believe that every school is a social community in which children are guided wisely in growth and development of health, character, personality, and knowledge. Thus our pattern includes the mental, physical, social, and moral aspects of effective living. We see education as an active rather than a passive process where significant and purposeful learning emerges from the countless school situations and activities. Children and teachers work cooperatively under democratic control to achieve skills, understandings, appreciation and attitudes. The subject matter is intended to be organized around pupil needs and interests and is thought of in terms of units of living, thinking, and learning rather than material to be memorized and recited. Our entire staff is dedicated to the educational success, welfare, and happiness of every pupil. Our goal is to give competent mastery of needed abilities from an enriched and well-balanced curriculum.
