C.A.R.D. Head Start Pryor South

Head Start is a Federal program for preschool children from low-income families. The Head Start Program is operated by Community Action Resource and Development, Inc., (C.A.R.D.). C.A.R.D. is a non-profit organization covering six (6) counties in eastern Oklahoma including Wagoner, Rogers, Mayes, Nowata, Washington and Tulsa (Broken Arrow).

Head Start philosophy is based on the belief that positive educational, social, and health intervention in preschool years helps children succeed in school and in life. They also receive medical and dental care, have healthy meals and snacks, and enjoy playing indoors and outdoors in a safe environment.

Head Start helps all children succeed. Services are offered to meet the special needs of children with disabilities. Most children in Head Start are between the ages of three and five years old. Services are also available to infants and toddlers in C.A.R.D. Early Head Start at selected sites.
