Play is the work of childhood. At Wild Lilac CDC, the children play freely in the space with simple, natural toys that encourage imagination and creativity. Children engage in exploration of art, music, language, and play as a coactive group while being honored for their individual interests and passions. Our teachers help the children maintain an environment of mutual respect and appreciation by modeling respect and empowering the children to create and uphold their own agreements. Wild Lilac curriculum celebrates the children’s questions about the broadening world around them.

Create!
At Wild Lilac CDC, baking, gardening and art projects happen everyday. The children help make quick breads, tortillas, challah and more from our seriously organic kitchen! In the garden, the children plant, care for, and harvest food and flowers with us. We draw inspiration from the natural world for seasonal art projects. Children are welcome to choose their level of involvement, and we all try to enjoy the process of creating things of beauty without imposing expectations about the projects results onto each other. We follow a consistent daily rhythm to maintain a predictable and comfortable environment.

Celebrate!
At Wild Lilac CDC, we honor and celebrate the wonder of the earth and her seasons. Our curriculum follows the shifting of the natural world and we gather together as a community of families to celebrate the powerful rhythm of the natural world with tea parties and outings.
