The basic idea of the Montessori philosophy is to nurture the child’s natural path of learning. In order to develop physical, intellectual and spiritual potential to the fullest, the child must have freedom. This freedom is achieved through order and self-discipline, allowing for maximum independent learning and exploration. It is the school and parents’ responsibility to respect the child’s process in constructing his personality and individuality.

The Montessori prepared environment is carefully planned and organized to allow the child to develop at his own speed. The directress (teacher) is the catalyst between the environment and the child. The Montessori materials are designed to isolate specific skills or concepts and are self-correcting.

One of the greatest strengths in the approach that Maria Montessori developed is the multi-age grouping that you will find in every Montessori school. By consciously bringing children together in a group where the majority of the children return every year, the school program promotes continuity and special relationships between children and their peers and as well as between children and their teachers.

The Montessori classroom is a natural extension of the home environment. We encourage parents to be actively involved in school activities and programs. Parents, as the primary educators for the child, play a critical role in their education. With common goals and trust, we hope to develop a partnership with parents that benefit the development of the child.
