We believe that children learn through active, concrete exploration and interaction with the environment. The curriculum is based on childrens real life experiences and interests. Developmental activities planned for the children in the program are designed to provide a variety of challenges to meet their developmental needs. We encourage children to freely express their own ideas, to ask questions, and to use materials and activities to discover and create. We want to nurture the whole child, while recognizing that all facets of his/her being are integrated. The program and setting are designed to promote self confidence, independence, cooperation, and consideration.
We believe that when children are presented with a safe and healthy learning environment, optimum developmental levels will be attained. The principles and practices promoted by Manhattan Catholic Schools After School Program is based on and in support of NAEYCs developmentally age appropriate practices.
