This is a hidden gem to send your kids to LA. I researched for 13 weeks all the daycares within LA county before deciding where to send my son, 3 years ago. I did extensive research online, and came up with a long list of questions one must ask when considering a school/daycare for a child: balance between play-time and academics, shade (it's very sunny in Los Angeles), food (no junk food for my kids!), preparation of the teachers, nap time, number of arts hours per week, sick-child policies, etc, etc... Then, I got the full list all state certified facilities - close to 300 at that time - and then called them up one by one, all of them. Some of them - a lot of them - speak Spanish only. I've a broken Spanish, so my list was narrowed down to English speaking. I need to communicate with the staff that would be taking care of my child. Then I starting visiting the ones that gave 4-5 Star ratings to my questions...I know, I should write a book about this LOL But, I couldn't help it. I was terrified to put my first child onto somebody's else hands to take care of. To make a long story short, French Nursery & Kindergarten are the best!! My second son goes there now too, and 3 (three) friends switched their children to that school too, and are very happy to have done so. Oh, and their academics are top rating too!! Both my husband and I are lawyers, and I'm fluent in 4 languages. Academics was our priority. All kids form their Kindergarten program do absolutely great in school; I interviewed parents who actually had their kids there. Go pay a visit if you're looking for great school. I was so impressed with my child's progress that a few months after I enrolled him, I asked the owner of the school, Maria Sauer, why don't they charge more. The price does not reflect the exquisite work they do. Her answer was (quote) "I didn't start my business for the money. I always wanted to take good care of kids, and make a difference in their lives, so they go on and make a difference in other people's lives too, like a multiplying chain of good deeds."
