Shining Stars Preschool is a ministry to the community of the Kansas City Church of Christ. The preschool began in the fall of 2002 and we have served hundreds of children and their families since then. We believe each child is a creation of God and our goal is to help them develop a positive self-esteem, learn to cooperate an socialize with others, learn to express their emotions in a positive way and develop a lifelong love for learning.
We provide a play based learning curriculum that allows a child be creative in their play and in their work. This will help each child develop a feeling of success and the freedom to experiment with different activities.
We maintain a low student to teacher ratio that lends itself to a more personal and nurturing learning environment. Our Philisophy about Early Childhood Education is that play is esential to a young child’s ability to learn. Play is more than playing with toys. As children explore in their play, they are problem solving, develoing their imaginations, learning important social skills, making discoveries of how things work and more.
Pushing academics at too early an age for the children will actually impede their learning later in life. Many studies have been conducted to verify the importance of play-based curriculum for preschoolers. You can find links and articles on our RESOURCE page to read for yourself.
