Little Learner Inc

Little Learner was established in December of 1997 by Bill and Emily Hammerly of Lees Summit. Together they built Little Learner from the ground up. Building the center themselves allowed them to design, customize and create a school-like environment with large classrooms, lots of windows, huge outdoor play area and elevated security.

Since opening on December 1, 1997, Emily has maintained day to day operations with the help of her Director/Office Manager, Angie Watkins (also her sister). Their team effort provides Little Learner with stable and consistent leadership, knowledgeable and experienced guidance and constant daily interaction with teachers, students and parents.

Emily graduated from Rockhurst University with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration in Accounting. Her business knowledge and education has helped create a solid business while making a difference in childrens lives. Her dedication is to making Little Learner the best it can be in both quality childcare and early childhood education. She credits much of Little Learner’s success to great teachers. Through their experience and creativity, Little Learner has grown into the best preschool and childcare center in Lees Summit!
Little Learner has adopted the Emerging Language and Literacy Curriculum (ELLC) as the foundation for our preschool program. Recommended by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, ELLC provides developmentally appropriate language practices for preschool children. Through ELLC, we will prepare our preschoolers for success in kindergarten and give them a strong foundation in oral language and literacy with this scientifically based curriculum. ELLC is an exciting program that allows Little Learner to far exceed the competition in not only offering a safe, nurturing, caring environment for your child but an outstanding early childhood education as well.
