The pre-kindergarten curriculum is geared towards the interest levels and needs
of each child. The students are provided with developmentally appropriate tasks and
a stimulating environment, thereby acquiring life long skills. Reading and math
readiness are built into all aspects of the prekindergarten experience.
Although schedules may vary in each classroom, a daily routine helps the children
develop a sense of security and independence. The schedules provide
opportunities for the students to work, play, quiet time for stories/books, use of
playground, puppets, music and rhythms, as well as food and nutrition.
Each pre-kindergarten class has 15-18 students and is staffed by a certified early
childhood teacher and a paraprofessional. The class is guided by the professional
judgment of the childs needs, interests, and learning styles of each child, as well as of the
group. The classrooms are highly organized into activity centers to maximize learning and
meet the individual needs of the children. We consider the Pre-K years an invaluable
time for learning how to express themselves and get along with others. Preschool assists
the child in getting ready for the rest of his/her years in school.
