The learning philosophy of Loving Heats Learning Place Child Care Ministry is that from birth young children learn best by actively experiencing their world. In their early years children explore their environment with all of their five senses. By using real “hands-on” materials children make discoveries every day which lay the foundation for later more “academic” learning experiences. They do this through play which is the child’s preparation for the more abstract learning needed for reading and math. Play is the work of young children and our classrooms become the laboratories for that work.

We encourage children to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try new ideas and think creatively. We want to help children become independent self-confident inquisitive learners. We allow them to learn at their own pace and in the ways that are best for them. We help them develop good habits and attitudes particularly a positive sense of themselves which will make a difference throughout their lives.

Our program identifies goals in all areas of development:

**Social: to help children feel comfortable in child care trust a new environment make friends and feel a part of a group.

**Emotional: to help children develop independence and self-control experience pride and self-confidence and have a positive attitude toward life.

**Cognitive: to help children become confident enthusiastic learners by letting them try their own ideas and experience success and by helping them acquire learning and problem-solving skills to prepare them for future academic success.

**Spiritual: to help children see themselves as children of God to be aware of the wonder of God’s world and to feel the love of God through the people who care for them.

**Physical: to help children increase their large and small muscle skills and to feel comfortable and confident about their own bodies.

The activities we plan for the children the way we organize their environment select toys and materials plan the daily schedule and talk with the children are all designed to accomplish these goals for our program and to give your child a successful start in life-long learning.
