Welcome to the 2010-2011 school year. I am excited about the new possibilities for learning and teaching that will take place at Collins Elementary. School will start very soon and I would like to share some reminders about how to get the school year off to a good start.

• Bring your child to Meet the Teacher Night on August 20th between 4:00 and 5:30 P.M.
• Purchase 4-5 School Uniforms and review the dress code guidelines carefully for the new changes.
• Start looking for the best sales deals on school supplies so your child has them on the 1st day of school.
• Learn about our Guidelines for Success so that you can reinforce them with your child at home.
• Decide on a place in your home that can be designated as the homework/reading zone every afternoon once school starts.

Research has shown that one of the strongest indicators for a childs success in school is parental support and involvement in their childs learning. We look forward to our partnership with you so that together we can make sure your son or daughter has a great school year.
