Dodson Chapel UMC Childcare

The ministry dates back to the late 1980’s when a group of women from the church decided to start tutoring sessions for the children in the neighborhood. This soon became an after school program which was very successful. A few years later the program expanded to also include a before school program.

Parents soon came to the center needing care for their younger children. A pre-kindergarten classroom was introduced and within a year, two more classrooms for 3 year olds and young 4’s were added. We continued to grow and soon added a program for 2 1/2 year olds.

Dodson Chapel is now a 3 star center that serves children from the age of 6 weeks to 12 year olds. Our pre-school and pre-K children along with our Kindergarten through 6 year olds are housed in the church, while our older school-age group classrooms (7-12 year olds) are in our school building next to the church. We have now added infant and toddler classrooms in that same building.

Dodson Chapel is a faith based center and strives to provide good moral values and education for each child. The children attend a weekly chapel with the Pastor and are encouraged to say a short prayer before meals and snacks. God’s love and care for each child is reinforced each day as we guide them in every activity.

Dodson Chapel provides parents with helpful articles and workshops to encourage and help them in their daily task of raising their children. We are also a Community based center which works with Metro. Pre-S for any child that has special needs.
