Hebron Public Schools Preschool Program

The Hebron Public School Preschool Program is housed at Gilead Hill School and serves children ages 3 and 4 in mixed age classes. All public school systems in Connecticut are responsible for the identification of all children who may be eligible to receive special education services. The early childhood team offers preschool developmental screenings for current Hebron resident children, to ensure all children receive appropriate services and supports prior to entering Kindergarten. An additional aspect of the screening process is the preschool lottery held each spring to select peer models for the preschool program the following school year. Families interested in having their child participate in the preschool lottery as peers are urged to participate in the preschool developmental screening.

The screening activities are designed to assess a childs development in the following domains: visual motor/adaptive, language and cognition, and gross motor. During the session, the preschool team members will interact and observe each child through a variety of activities. Following the student activities, families will receive feedback from an early childhood team member.

Hebron Public School makes every effort to screen ALL children ages 3 and 4. If you are concerned about your young childs development at any age, please call the school district to inquire further about the screening process and services.
