St. Marks Preschool (also known as St. Marks Day School) was founded in 1989 as an organization of St. Marks Episcopal Church in Glendale. Because we are an organization of the parish we are blessed with an unusually high level of commitment and care for the school by the clergy and lay leadership of St. Marks and its parish members. You need no affiliation with St. Marks, however, to enroll in our school.

We are open year round with the exception of normal holidays, plus a Christmas and Easter break. We are open Monday through Friday from 7 am until 6 pm so that we can be of service to our working families, but we have a variety of schedule options to meet your particular needs, including half day and full day enrollments.

Your child may be enrolled with us once they have attained their second birthday and until their entry into Kindergarten. They do not need to be out of diapers to be enrolled here: our staff is experienced in helping you with the process of moving your child from diapers to none, always gently, and bearing in mind that all children move at their own pace!

Our communitys diversity is reflected in our staff and children, and no child, family, employee or volunteer will be discriminated against for any reason, including race, religion, national origin, or family structure.

We are licensed by the State of Californias Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division, and certified by the Episcopal Commission on Schools through the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles.

We believe your child is of infinite worth and beloved by God. Our program is based on this and on the developmental and spiritual needs and experiences of young children. Each child is unique, with a unique approach to their world and a unique way of processing information. Each child learns in different ways and at differing paces, and we honor this and work within these realities.

We strive for balance, consistency and diversity in planning for each day, seeking to open our students eyes more fully to the wonders of the world and the joy of learning. We maintain, above all, balance: balance between indoor and outdoor time, play and structured learning, and between teacher-directed and child-selected activities.

We believe your childs Preschool experience should emphasize imagination, wonder and creativity, as well as prepare them socially and academically for their school years ahead. Fun matters, and we do a great job of that here!

Our religious context is reflected in the joy, caring and watchfulness of our amazing staff which creates an environment in which each child becomes more and more aware that they and their classmates are truly beloved by God and by us.
