NHCDC is participating in the STARS for KIDS NOW initiative which evaluates childcare programs using a scale of 1 through 4 STARS to identify levels of quality. All STAR levels surpass the minimum state licensing requirements that all programs must meet. NHCDC strives to exceed standards associated with quality care that result in positive outcomes for young children. We are assessed in the following areas: staff/child ratios, group size, curriculum, parental involvement, training/education of staff, regulatory compliance, and personnel practices. STARS for KIDS NOW provides parents with a tool to help identify levels of quality when seeking a childcare setting outside of their home. STARS for KIDS NOW demonstrates a commitment toward providing quality care and education for young children.

Here at New Horizons Child Development Center (NHCDC) our ultimate goal is to provide a safe, positive, nurturing, healthy, and educational environment for the children and families we serve. We believe children should be actively involved in play to develop the whole child. Teachers prepare a variety of interesting choices for children each day. Children are given the freedom to make their own discoveries about the world as they explore materials and learn to play with other children. Young children are capable of learning, so our day is arranged to provide opportunities for children to gain the important academic skills that will help build the framework for future learning experiences.
