The World Language Academy develops second language skills for both native English speaking and native Spanish speaking students. Our Mission is to create a global learning community that focuses on inquiry-based, participatory learning through rigorous coursework in the study of language and culture.
At the World Language Academy, we strive to offer students at the very earliest stages of public school education the opportunity to engage in the study of world languages and to engage in a dual language immersion program in English and Spanish. It is our goal for WLA students to become bilingual, biliterate and multicultural through:
Creating an environment in which students are encouraged to learn a second language through either dual language immersion or world language study.
Creating international and intercultural skills in students through the study of language and culture.
Fostering increased student achievement through language study and the creation of an innovative school environment.

Research has shown that students who engage in the study of a language other than their native language attain higher levels of achievement than those who do not engage in such a study. The focus of the World Language Academy (WLA) is the study of world languages in an effort to increase the achievement of all students.
WLA operates as an Elementary Preschool and middle school where students are able to engage in any facet of learning that would be available at other school in Hall County. The curriculum includes all subject areas with a strong focus on literacy (reading, writing, speaking, listening, and viewing), mathematics (using the National Science Foundation approved Singapore Math), science and social studies. The fine arts areas of music, art, dance, and drama will also be emphasized and the required areas of health and physical education will be offered.
However, as a school of innovation, WLA provides a hands-on learning environment that emphasizes inquiry and project-based learning, and student-focused instruction.
