Preschool in Durham, NC 27707
The Learning Garden provides the nurturing, family-oriented feeling of a home daycare
program with the structure, curriculum, and developmentally appropriate environment you would
expect from a quality early childhood education school. We will facilitate learning through play
and stimulating activities, in addition to the bilingual integration of English and Spanish
language development daily. Each spring, we plant an on-site childrens garden in order to teach
them about all aspects of growing our own fruits, vegetables, and flowers.
The Learning Garden will also provide a strong emphasis on character development, such as
loyalty, honor, sharing, compassion, teamwork, determination, sincerity, respect, and more. We
hope that your children will gain experiences here that will last them a lifetime.

We believe that the events that a young child experiences in early life can influence the type of
person that they will become in the future. That is why it is vitally important that those
experiences are geared to enhancing his or her physical, emotional, and cognitive development.
We also believe that it is imperative that even young children form a positive attitude toward
themselves, their peers, their teachers, and the community. We strive to make our center a
warm, nurturing, environment that focuses on learning through play and establishing long-lasting
relationships between parents and care-givers. Our curriculum focuses on language and literacy,
people and events in the community, and the responsibility of caring for our environment. We
are a bilingual preschool program that focuses on both English & Spanish equally; as opposed to
emersion that focuses on one language while sacrificing the other.
We feel that parents and staff must form a partnership whose primary interest must be the wellbeing, safety, security, and education of the children. To that end, there are opportunities to join
a parent/teacher group that will allow and encourage parents as well as care-givers to voice their
opinions and make suggestions to enhance the experiences of the children enrolled at the center.
There will also be ample opportunities for parents to volunteer both in their childrens classroom
and in the outside learning environment if they so choose. We want parents to feel that they are
an integral component to the success of the center and that their input is always welcome.
