The Preschool on the Green, established in the 1950s, is a self-supporting non-profit organization sponsored by the Christian Education Committee of the Middlebury Congregational Church. It is licensed by the State of Connecticut and complies with all of the standards put forth by the State. Its operation is governed by a board of Directors and the school is managed and taught by a Director, Head Teacher and classroom teachers.

The philosophy of the Preschool on the Green is that early childhood should be a time of fun, warmth, security, exploring and discovery. Preschool children are receptive and creative and the goal of the staff is to nurture and encourage these qualities in the children who attend.
