I am a very caring, flexible, creative and patient person who loves working with children. I am warm, energetic, upbeat, loving and well organized. I also love spending time outdoors and doing arts & crafts. I have been in childcare for over 10 years, I have a degree in Early Childhood Education and my CPR/First Aid is current. I have reliable transportation and a good driving record. I have both daycare and nanny experience. I have found that I work better in a one-on-one situation with children, something with which daycares are unable to offer. I love working with children and watching them grow. I am very flexible, patient and find it very rewarding to care for children.
I believe in positive reinforcement and encouragment. I constantly assess the situation and plan accordingly. So, if it looks like something is about to happen (like hitting, biting, or throwing toys), I step in to prevent it. If something has happened before it could be stopped (such as hitting, biting, or throwing toys), I use age-appropriate wording to explain why it was wrong and offer suggestions as to what to do instead (such as using words or asking for help). Re-direction when possible. Time-outs will be used if the child needs some time to regroup. I have also found that children learn by example, so appropriate behaviours will be modeled for the children to follow by example. Rules and limits will be set in place (based on age). Monthly Lesson Plans will be used and will be based upon the child’s interests. Field trips will be taken (with parental permission).
I do have a 3 1/2 month old son who I wish to bring with me.
