School age child care programs are designed to be a link between school and home for elementary and middle school students.
Qualified experienced child care providers will supervise and interact with children to ensure their safety and enjoyment of the
program setting.
The focus is on the child in this program. Everyone’s feelings will be respected and a positive experience will consistently be the
goal. Flexible programming allows each child a choice of interesting and age-appropriate activities.
As an informal extension of the school day learning will take place in a safe fun and relaxed way. A stimulating yet comfortable
and nurturing environment will be provided in which children can choose planned quality activities depending upon their interests
and needs. Children’s opinions and suggestions are a valuable part of curriculum planning.

Special Needs:
The YWCA encourages and promotes the participation of special needs children into all of our programs. We are dedicated to
serving all children and families with an integrated program from which everyone can benefit. The inclusion of children with special
needs is based on the “reasonable accommodation” provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Children with special needs
will participate in programming through which they can model the activities and behaviors of their typically developing peers. All
children will have the opportunity to observe learn and work together to gain an understanding of how we are alike and different.
