Center in Wadesboro, NC 28170
The first phase of Open Doors Center for Children, a licensed child care facility, opened on February 4, 2008, with one classroom. This classroom is a More at Four class, licensed for 18 children ages four to five. The curriculum is designed to prepare children for kindergarten and encourages learning through creativity and exploration. Working and playing in small groups allows each child to explore the world in a manner that best suits his individual learning style. Open Doors will strive to prepare children to enter school with the social, physical, emotional and intellectual skills needed to be successful.
Children learn through play. Play is their work, and it is the way in which they learn about the world and their place in it. This child-centered curriculum starts with the knowledge that children learn through their senses and learn the most through learning about things that interest them. Teachers provide learning opportunities that balance children’s interests with presenting new information.
It is our goal to form a partnership with parents. Children feel most secure when they are confident that there is a strong bond between the most important people in their lives, and between their homes and their center. At Open Doors Center, we believe in the value and importance of each individual child. We embrace the motto of the United Methodist Church, “Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open doors.”
