Children will learn to appreciate the diversity of life from the sea through a live hands-on touch tank presentation by The Schooner of New Haven. They will learn about hermit crabs, jellyfish, sea stars, seahorses, sea urchins, whales and sharks. Indoor and outdoor play, themed activities, music, art, crafts and stories make each day a fun adventure.
Children will have the opportunity to learn about the cuisine, traditional dress and customs of Mexican and Chinese cultures. While learning about Mexico, the children will make guacamole and corn cakes. They will make and try on sombreros and serapes as they learn the Mexican Hat dance, play games and learn new Spanish words. Next, the children will make fortune cookies and eat noodles with chopsticks. They will make and decorate Chinese fans and dragon kites and enjoy ribbon dancing to Chinese music. This cultural experience will be educational and fun for all.
