Center in Oklahoma City, OK 73162
Harvest Hills Elementary School was opened in 1975. Then-Superintendent Leo C. Mayfield worked closely with the design architects to design a learning environment with open classrooms, all directly accessible to a large open media center. Special closed areas were designed for kindergarten, art, music, physical education and dining. The use of bright cheerful colors, graphics, carpeting and varying ceiling heights were created to increase student motivation and enthusiasm. The school opened with 477 students, thirteen classroom teachers, and six specials teachers under Dwain Jindra, principal.
During the summer of 2007, the school went under a major renovation including the adding on of the Kindergarten/Pre-K wing, new office space, and walls to separate classrooms in the learning center. Currently Harvest Hills services 26 classrooms, 31 teachers, and 533 students Pre-K through 5th Grade under Principal Price Brown.
