YMCA Camp Sunrise

Our Camp Sunrise 2011 summer theme is A Trip Around the World. Camp Sunrise is held daily, Monday through Friday. Regular camp hours are 8:30 to 3:30. An extended day schedule is available 7:30 to 6:00 PM at an additional cost. Our 8 week program will feature Swim Lessons, Field Trips, Arts & Crafts, Science Exploration, Yoga, Zumba and Learning Lab dedicated to academic skill retention. Each week we explore a new country and will experience native language, games, music, art and more. Camp Participants will enjoy writing in the Camp Journal a keepsake of their Camp Sunrise experience. Camp Sunrise serves children who have completed their Kindergarten year though 5th grade. Our Counselor In Training program invites students who have completed 6th and 7th grade and would like to spend their summer, supporting the Counselors and guiding young Campers. C.I.Ts will be selected based on their ability to work with school age students and special talents and skills they may bring to enrich the Camp Sunrise experience. Field Trips and enrichment activities will be planned throughout the summer along with weekly excursions to Calf Pasture Beach for recreational beach play on beautiful Long Island Sound. Afternoons will be filled with recreational games and activities which our Counselors will be responsible for planning and conducting with their individual group of young camp participants. From kickball to tennis, talent shows to sing-alongsour afternoons will be action-packed and filled with fun. Camp Sunrise is held outdoors with occasional use of indoor space in the event of rain, for our Learning Lab component and other occasional activities and special events.
