At Step A Way we know that preschool is often the first group experience for young children. In order to ease the transition from home to school, we offer the 2s program as the first step in the process of growing independence. In the 2s program your child will have the security of having his parent with him for a few weeks while he begins to relate to peers and another adult, the teacher. The next step, the 3-year old class, enables your child to learn to be more independent in a classroom of peers and caring early childhood professionals. He will have a variety of learning experiences designed to foster growth of his whole person.
The final step before elementary school is our 4-year old program where your child will continue to grow in confidence while being exposed to a larger variety of activities and a longer day. This will enable him to be continually challenged and make increased cognitive, social, emotional and physical growth. The Step A Way process will give your child the foundation of solid early childhood development through our use of Christian values, caring and respect as you child makes those large steps from home to school.

Step A Way children are exposed to a variety of planned and spontaneous learning experiences in a newly remodeled space arranged to accommodate large and small group activities. The teachers plan activities that address the five modalities of learning so that the Pre School Frameworks developed by the State Department of Education are covered.

The classroom is arranged in learning centers with props and materials rotated to adhere to a curriculum theme. Children work in small groups and receive individual attention from teachers so that each child progresses at his or her own pace. Large group times include snack, story, circle and music. The curriculum at Step A Way follows Piagets development stages which enables children to construct knowledge through carefully structured hands-on experiences. Our developmental philosophy allows children to develop into confident learners who are able to make choices, ask questions, and love learning if they are loved, valued and respected during their preschool years.
