The Goddard School (Reading Rd)

Center in Mason, OH 45040

Welcome to The Goddard School for Early Childhood Development!

We opened our doors in 1996 as the premier preschool in Mason. The Goddard School located in Mason offers a variety of programs convenient for parents who want the proven advantages of a clean, safe, and loving environment with a high quality preschool education for their children. We also have one of the largest playgrounds in the area, with plenty of room for your child to explore the outdoors.

Our warm, loving atmosphere features both full and part-time programs designed to enhance the emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of children ages six weeks to ten years. Our student group is very diverse in its makeup with a significant international composition.

Our Ohio state standards-based full-day kindergarten offers a small class size, hands-on learning, individualized attention, and Foreign Language (German). Our small class size enables more one-on-one interactions between each child and the teacher. In addition, it provides the teacher with greater flexibility to shape the curriculum in order to meet individual children’s learning needs.

In addition to the standard curriculum; American Sign Language, Spanish, Yoga, Art History, a Scholastic literacy program, an enhanced science curriculum, an enhanced social science curriculum, organized Physical Education and a program on Manners are offered.

At our school, each child has the option to have either a prepared warm lunch at the school or a sack lunch from home. We also provide a nutritious morning and afternoon snack.

We also offer a summer program and an after-school enrichment program for children up to ten years of age.

Our teaching staff has over 200 years of teaching experience and the teachers are trained in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Many of the teachers have been with our school for several years. All teachers are trained in first aid, CPR and communicable disease detection and prevention, and child abuse detection within their first year of employment. Training in these areas remain current throughout the duration of their employment.

We provide children with carefully planned educational and developmental programs that meet the needs of the “whole” child. The Goddard School is dedicated to providing the best possible environment for the education and development of your child. Our scores on both the State of Ohio inspections and the Goddard QA Reviews are consistently very high. Please visit www.odjfs.state.oh.us/cdc/Results2.asp?provider_number=1000000204321 to review our state inspections.

We are conveniently located at 754 Reading Road (Route 42), an eighth-of-a-mile south of Tylersville Road. Please contact our school for more specific information on our program, curriculum, and availability of space. To schedule a tour of our school please call 513-398-2777. We had a wonderful experience at The Goddard School with our youngest daughter. She attended from 18 months until 2 1/2 years. Wonderful educators, clean ... I wished that the younger toddler room was a bit bigger. Overall, nice, safe, clean and great outdoor play!

PLAY. SMILE. LEARN.
By encouraging children to learn through play, Goddard offers preschoolers an opportunity to establish a Lifelong Love of Learning. Our curriculum fosters socialization and creativity while developing a love of learning in a warm, secure environment. Bright classrooms and large playgrounds create the backdrop to a learning environment where children independently explore special centers for dramatic play, math, creative art, science, music, and computers. Reading readiness, pre-math, computer programs, outdoor play, creative art projects, science and nature study are just some of the daily activities planned for your child. SERIOUS FUN!
In addition to Goddards great curriculum, health and safety practices, and stringent Quality Assurance standards, The Goddard School located on Route 42 in Mason also offers the following programs:

Secondary Language
Numerous studies have concluded that secondary languages are extremely beneficial for children, often resulting in enhanced academic achievement in reading, math, and social studies, a greater understanding of the English language, improvement in creative inquiry, problem solving, conceptualizing, reasoning, and critical thinking skills as well as increased sensitivity to and understanding of other languages and cultures. By incorporating Secondary Language into our Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten curriculum, children will be introduced to and begin to learn foreign language and culture through games, songs, activities, and lots of fun! We include weekly Spanish lessons in our Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten programs and weekly German lessons in our Kindergarten class. Starting in our infant program, we include Time to Sign. Time to Sign is a sign language program that introduces children to American Sign Language. Research shows that sign helps children as young as infants communicate more effectively.

Fitness
Physical fitness has been linked to social skill acquisition, as well as readiness and basic movement skills. Fitness programs expose children to the skills necessary to support their active lives, to develop positive self-esteem, and to set the foundation for a healthy lifestyle. On Mondays we offer Soccer Shots. Soccer Shots is a program that introduces your child to soccer by putting emphasis on character-forming lessons such as fair team play, individual concentration, cooperation and encouragement. On Tuesdays we offer Jumping Bean. Jumping Bean is a physical education class where children work on developing fine motor and gross motor skills as well as their manners. On Wednesdays we offer Webby Dance Class. Both Soccer Shots and Webby Dance are offered at an additional charge, but all other programs explained in the “Bulletin Board” section are included in your child’s tuition. We also offer the S.P.A.R.K. program (sports, play and active recreation for kids) everyday of the week! S.P.A.R.K. is designed to promote physical activity in ways that are creative and fun as well as teach social skills and enhance personal skills while maintaining high activity time. Starting in our infant room, we offer Yoga School. Our yoga program is designed to educate the “whole” child through age-appropriate activities and it is incorporated daily in our curriculum.

Scholastic’s Building Language for Literacy
Through books, puppets, music and poetry, children will receive the skills they need to build a foundation for success in reading.

Art History for Kids
This program takes children on a journey through time and geography, from cave art to modern art. The program enables children to learn about influential artists and the contributions their art has made to culture and society in terms that they can understand.

KidScientific
Through different types of science experiments, KidScientific engages children in hands-on science exploration.

World Cultures and Geography
This program explores diversity, history, language, art and symbols of the continents of the world.

Goddard Guide to Getting Along
Starting in our Young Toddler classroom, your child will be engaged in age-appropriate activities to help foster development in friendship, compassion, cooperation and kindness. Also, children will receive lessons on “Stranger Danger.”

Imagine Tomorrow Computer Class
On Fridays, children in our Young Preschool class through Private Kindergarten receive age-appropriate lessons in a small group setting. These lessons will help children develop their computer, teamwork, social, and academic skills as well as boosting their self confidence.

CommunitySafe

In addition to parent mailboxes, email, monthly classroom newsletters and quarterly school-wide newsletters, we offer CommunitySafe.
