Camp Laurel is located on 380 rolling, wooded acres surrounding our beautiful private lake in Lebanon, CT. The camp is licensed by the State of Connecticut and accredited by the American Camp Association, thereby ensuring quality program, administration, staff, and facilities.
Each day girls spend time enjoying theme-based activities and the rest of the day is filled with more traditional camp programs. They challenge themselves creatively at arts & crafts and theater arts; get moving with a variety of sports, swimming, archery, and hiking; and learn to appreciate our natural world with environmental programs, gardening, and pond studies. Four evenings a week we have fun at our all-camp programs. Everyone enjoys time around the campfire! One evening we offer time for unit activities and a cookout!
Camp Laurels charm encompasses a variety of comfortable sleeping accommodations and well-equipped program buildings. We all enjoy healthy meals in the Miriam Healy Dining Hall which sits on a hill overlooking our lake. Our dedicated staff in the Health Center help us stay healthy. Most girls will be sleeping on cots with mattresses in platform tents. Showers and sinks are available, and most toilets are latrine-style outhouses (port-o-lets).
Our on-site horseback riding programs are focused on basic riding techniques, safety, and equipment. We offer both Western and English saddles. All riding participants must wear long pants and shoes or boots with one-inch heels. Campers ride each day, except opening day, in either the ring or on the trail, conditions permitting. Campers learn to mount, dismount, walk and control the horse, and participate in barn kapers such as grooming, mucking, and horse care. Please talk with the camp manager if your camper is an experienced rider.
Resident camp programs are open to all girls entering grades 2 and up. Our Leadership Programs are for ALL girls, even if they have never been to camp before: Camp CEO is for girls 14 and older; Counselor-In-Training (CIT) is for girls 1517; and Wrangler-In-Training (WIT) is for girls 16-17.
