Dist. #65 Bessie Rhodes Child Care

Dr. Bessie Rhodes Magnet School was founded in 1995 as Timber Ridge Magnet School. The schools name was changed to honor its first principal, Dr. Bessie Rhodes. The school offers kindergarten through eighth grade for students from the entire District 65 attendance area. There are two classes per grade, for a total of 18 homerooms. Most kindergarten through fifth grade instruction is from a homeroom teacher. Fine Arts, computer, library, and physical education are taught outside the classroom by teachers specially trained in these areas. Sixth through eighth graders follow a more traditional middle school schedule, moving from class to class throughout the day. Upper grade students also participate in an Art Tech Program twice per week focusing on arts through technology.
