East Hartford Parks And Recreation

The Town has committed approximately 650 acres of Town land to recreational usage. Recreational areas available for public use include playgrounds, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, picnic areas, tennis and basketball courts, a public golf course, ball fields, a boat launch on the Connecticut River, an ice skating area, and much more. The Parks and Recreation Department also offers shelters that may be reserved for picnics, a historic building that may be rented for small group meetings, and a clubhouse which may be used for wedding receptions and meetings. Three historic buildings in one park are open for tours throughout the year.

The Department also sponsors numerous events including the Annual Fall Fest, Visit with Santa, July Riverfest, and the “Sounds of Summer” concert series at the EH Town Green. Throughout the year we host numerous road races including the “Brian Aselton Snow Dash”, Memorial Mile, Riverfest 5K and Alumni Cross Country Challenge. The Parks and Recreation Department holds a wide range of recreational programs and classes year round and sponsors an exciting selection of bus trips to destinations throughout the New England area and the East Coast.
