Hi, my name is Shinice Hemmings and I am a graduate from Adelphi University, attaining my B.F.A. The qualities I possess are being patient, diligent, and trustworthy. This is what allows me to be asuccessful babysitter. I utilized these skills when I took care of a little girl named Asia for a couple years when she was four to eight years old. This was my first responsibility for a job; being a care-taker. But being patient and calm made this job a lot easier and it paid off. I soon got attached to Asia and gained trust with her mother, which made me babysit Asia regularly. From other additional babysitting jobs, I have experience working with multiple sets of children at one time from them being newborn to pre-teen. At one job I had two children from the ages of five and eight. At another family in New Haven, Connecticut I worked with three children at one time of the ages two, six, and eight. Recently, I worked with six children at once from the ages of two, six, eight, nine, and two being twelve years old. I also did these jobs again more than once.
I also did certificate programs so I can better myself and be more qualified for job positions. I took the American Red Cross Babysitter Certificate Program in White Plains, NY back in 2005. And I recently completed the Student Leadership Certificate Program at Adelphi University of May 2011.
I also did volunteer work where I was a tutor in the Newcomer Centers Project After-School Program in White Plains, NY. Where high school students, including myself, taught international preschoolers learn English, help them with their readings, and do math with them. I also did a Halloween activity for kids in the community of Garden City, NY. It was the Annual Bird Sanctuary Halloween Festival, where other volunteers and I set up a spooky Halloween trail for the children to follow and we would do various activities.
I also did community service for children causes. I participated in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Walk and raised money for Alexs Lemonade Stand for Childhood Cancer. I also participated in fairs for kids to have a fun day at. I did this for Church Street School Fun Fair in White Plains, NY and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Fun Fair at Playland in Rye, NY
I enjoy activities with children instead of just watching them. I enjoy going to the park with them, helping them with their homework, playing dress-up and pretend, dancing, singing, drawing, taking them to the library, and playing games. I am sincere, dependable, and responsible and will be able to overall look after them. With feeding, cleaning, and developing age appropriate skills, in terms of language, communication, social skills and growth in the physical and mental levels.
I love taking care of children. They are so adorable and precious. Sometimes it is hard to handle them but you learn. I learned so much from taking care of children. Especially, patience; it is such a gift to have that. And it is wonderful to see them grow and learn. You get so attached and you enjoy yourself with them. You definitely grow as a person also.
I love being a caretaker and I give surety to you of my honesty and integrity.
