Hello,

My name is Emily Miller, and I will be moving to New York City at the beginning of September to attend New York University for Social Work. I have been working as a Child Care provide for over 8 year, and have extensive practical and theoretical knowledge of how to work with children ranges from new-born to 15 year olds. I started off my work with children as a dance teacher for 3 to 18 year olds. In this role I was responsible for classroom management, and the development of age appropriate activities for varying proficiencies. When I started college, I worked with K-5th graders in an after school program. I was responsible for developing assignments and lesson plans to structure effective learning environments for students. I started to work full time at a child care center. From here, I established relationships and began my work as a professional nanny while I attended college for childhood development, education, and social work. Post college, I was accepted into a program called City Year, where I have had the distinct opportunity to work with at risk youth struggling with academic and behavioral issues. This path has led me to peruse my graduate study in social work, and specialize on the intersection between poverty and education. As an emerging social worker, I deeply believe in the potential of all youth, and feel passionate about fostering a love for education. Here are some examples of things I love to do with younger children

-Create a nature observation book. Each day we are together we can write down observations that they have about the environment.
-Make a board game together. They create the rules and design all the necessary things needed to play the game with
- Create a citys public transportation system with poster board, and cardboard.
- Create miniature rooms for stuffed animals out of old show boxes. Teach kids how to make miniature blankets, pillows, mirrors etc.

As a nanny I dont mind cleaning and I love organizing rooms. Im very willing to pick up any task that makes the household run smoothly. I love cooking healthy meals, and teaching kids about nutrition. I dont mind using a family car, or taking public transportation. I hope to hear from you and your family and I appreciate your time!
