I am a freelance professional singer, composer, and self-made scholar operating in the Boston area and I am passionate about arts education for children. I enjoy working with children on voice, piano, music theory, composition, jazz improvisation, and much more, depending on their interests, age, and abilities. I believe in learning music through play with games that teach rhythm, pitch-matching, how to find a steady beat, the basics of musical notation, and improvisation! Depending on your child’s interests, we can also have a ball drawing, writing, reading, baking cookies, or cooking together. I can also teach your child basic German or Chinese, if you like.

As a society we have a moral imperative to teach children many different modes of expression. When I was young, I sang, danced, acted, played piano, painted, and wrote poetry. Learning to express myself creatively at a young age has had a lasting benefit for me, not only by giving me a direction for my career, but also by bringing joy into my daily life. I will continue to reap the benefits of my creative education as long as I shall live.

The pursuit of art has been tantamount to the pursuit of self-actualization and the self in my life. I have found a way of building an identity through my music. The process of forming an identity for oneself is always painstaking and must happen slowly, laboriously, brick by brick. But with art it is a labor of love. I express myself through my music for myself and for the emotional boon this grants me, and if I can touch the lives of others by expressing this ineffable truth of selfhood within me, then I consider myself doubly lucky. To give this gift of expression to children is no less than giving them the tools they need to build their identities.

Your child’s time with me will be fun, educational, and creative! And I’m a great cook to boot, so it may very well be delicious.

Please be advised: I haven’t worked with children under 3. With extensive instructions, I’m happy to take this on, as I will gain experience as well, but I understand that some parents will choose a candidate with more experience in that area. I am also limited by the MBTA. The closer you are to transit, the better! I am willing to walk for an hour at most.

I look forward to meeting your children and having a blast with them!
