COVID-19… Stepping to the plate!
High school and middle school kids chafe at the idea of a nanny or babysitter, yet we’re suddenly overwhelmed with our older kids and no access to the extracurricular activities that have always populated their schedules in the natural order of things.

I’m a local fellow, well known in the Delaware Valley as a gentleman of the arts. Semi retired businessman. I sold my national art and antiques moving business, locally handling several thousand apartment and household moves and regularly featured to this day as Best of Philadelphia. For the past decade, I’ve run and will continue to run a delightful online print gallery, The Grand Review. My spring and summer would have typically been setting up at arts events around the Mid Atlantic, introducing customers to what we do and how we do it. COVID threw that into the blender, to say the least!

That said, if potential clients are envisioning Mr. French in Family Affair, I invite you to imagine instead Boris Karloff attempting light comic opera. If THAT brings a smile to your face, then perhaps we can work together.

Between Facebook, Instagram, Spotify, and various articles about me and my work available online, you can form a pretty clear idea about the panoply of interesting threads I’ve woven into the cultural fabric of Philadelphia, New York and London. Links available on request, including a proper resume.

Why, then, present myself available as a gentleman nanny (for lack of a better term in common usage)? Because of all the worthy things I’ve done in a life well lived, raising two amazing lads with my beloved and kooky wife has been the most rewarding. Our older son graduated from Pratt with honors, and his work and unusual iconography are in demand by a legion of happy fans, from his studio in Brooklyn. Our younger son just graduated Magna Cum Laude with a dual major in math and econ from Dickinson, and had already been recruited by a top international firm by the time he began his senior year.
They are fun, funny, good company, great to travel with. They are good friends to their friends, and the steadfast go to guys for those buddies. They have adventurous palates and know their way around a kitchen. They both have their own tools, and building and fixing are a part of who they are. Both are active in sports and genuinely involved with contemporary culture, especially music. They are both happily in love with great partners. Responsible. Aware. Awake. Active with volunteer events.

I was their work from home dad, always available throughout their school years, and between my ebullient wife of 26 years, and their genuinely happy father, who and what they are, are a reflection of how they were raised.

Personally, I’m working on an unusual children’s book set in Nantes, in the Loire Valley, and working as a gentleman nanny will free my mind to write when I’m not serving as teacher, advisor, mentor, friend, to my client’s kids. Anyone who has ever entered into a serious writing project will understand the importance of leaving your day work at work, and going home fresh.

Please feel free to reach out for discussion, then perhaps a meeting. Please feel free to share this with friends and colleagues whose needs for help match what I bring to the table.

All the best,

Todd
