Growing up as the oldest of 6, I was practically born into the role of babysitter and loved it; since the age of 9, I’ve known how to change a diaper, make a bottle, cook, clean, etc. At the age of 13, I started babysitting for families in my neighborhood and soon after, began working with kids in more professional settings, often on a volunteer basis. For 3 years I volunteered at the HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy in the Dance Therapy Department, working with students aged 15-21, with a range of mental and physical capabilities. I also was an assistant teacher in ballet and tap classes for children ages 3-7 for three years at a local dance studio and was a language tutor in high school for about a year. I most recently worked at a shelter for domestic violence survivors in Ecuador for 9 months. There, I worked with children between the ages of 4 months and 14-years primarily taking care of the babies, coordinating activities with the kids, and helping them with homework.
