L’Oreal, originally from New Jersey, began looking after children when she started babysitting in middle school to earn extra cash. It was recommended to her to work as a camp counselor at the local YMCA, which she did, in Summit, NJ; one year as a junior camp counselor and another year as a Head Camp counselor, where she was charged to care for 30 children, while acting as coach to the 3 assisting counselors-in-training. Throughout her high school career, faculty, staff, and professors at her boarding school (St. George’s School in Newport, Rhode Island) often entrusted her with their children a few nights during the weekend. Her first full-time nanny experience came when her advisor offered her the opportunity to travel with the family to their summer home at Squam Lake (New Hampshire) for a week. In an effort to keep extra cash on hand while pursuing higher education, L’Oreal continued to work in childcare by tutoring during the school year and summer counseling with Brown/ Trinity’s education department at their summer camp, YASI, located in Providence, Rhode Island. L’Oreal completed her graduate studies at Brown University (Providence, RI) with a M.F.A. in Acting. Moving back has been quite the transition and L’Oreal hopes to, once again, use all she’s learned about childcare to bring the best attitude, activities and quality care into your home.
