Hi I’m Avantika! I grew up working in orphanages in India and babysitting around my neighborhood at home in the USA. I adore kids, and especially love elementary age/middle school age – I find them hilarious (and I think they find me hilarious too :)). It feels really special to watch children grow into amazing souls – and to be a part of that, even in a small capacity is really exciting. I go to school at Columbia University – and while I do enjoy being around college students, there’s something about taking care of kids that feels like a really amazing opportunity for me to learn (developing patience, insight, etc.), but to teach them and guide them in any way I can. I know I may be younger than several of the people applying, however, I promise that your children will thoroughly enjoy having someone young around! I can keep up with them, and more importantly, I’ve found that kids are far more inclined to listen because they feel understood and seen by someone closer to them in age. I’m trying to pay for college, and have been doing many odd jobs to do so – but babysitting is the one I’ve been the most genuinely eager to start. I hope you can give me a chance – I promise I won’t disappoint.
