Hello! My name is Mariah Polanco a current college student who previously studied child psychology but am now studying to be an art teacher for elementry/middle school students. I absolutly love children and have discovered over the years working with them is truly the only job I’ve ever had that I 100% enjoyed and am always happy to do. Working with children to me means never being bored and always having something new to look forward to (Mom and dad should know how much their little one can keep them on their toes!)

My experience in child care ranges from self empoyment through websites such as UrbanSitter, SitterCity, and Care.com as well as volunteering in classrooms, assisting in afterschool programs from when I myself was just in middle school, and teaching an afterschool class of my own. Unproffessionally I have always volunteered to babysit younger relatives and the children of family friends as well as helplessly begging my mother to allow me to babysit my little brother from the moment she told me I was going to be a big sister. Babysitting as apparently always been a thing of mine and I pride myself on doing a good job!

I like to call myself “The Active Babysitter” I believe in participating in activies with the children I watch so when it’s time for my next visit it’s seen as a treat making mom and dad’s job of leaving that much easier. Sitting on the couch scrolling through my phone is not on the to do list while I’m on the job for more reasosns than one, the main reason being I was hired to do my job not just take up space in your home until you return.
