am a compassionate individual.I am currently working at the Arc part time. I have gained patience and the ability to smile all the time.

My skills include being a good listener, as well as giving attention to people who need it, which is essential when working with youth. I have worked at the Hillsborough YMCA. During my time at the Y I was able to connect with the parents. I listened to the concerns of the parents and brought forth any concerns to the director. I also told the parent about the kid which gave the parent something to talk about because they had not seen their child all day. I also was able to give the children the chance to be heard. I have also gained the trust of the children and they were able to tell me information they were not able to tell the other counselors. Also when children weren’t following directions I had implemented a rewards system.

I have been a mentor to an individual who was on the verge of again out of the system. In the past, I have taken classes on conflict resolution. When I lived in Buffalo I volunteered at inner city schools-leading groups on grief, social skills, and study skills. Also I volunteered at Head Start and worked with a child who needed extra attention.
