Hi! My name is Daisy Poliandro and I’m 22 years old and a graduating senior at SUNY New Paltz studying early childhood and elementary education. I’ve always loved working with children and throughout the years have worked at various summer camps including Blue Rill and Northern Valley Sports Academy. I also have spent the last few months working at day care which has really given me great experience working with infants to pre-schoolers! I’ve had multiple experiences working inside a classroom as well, including Hillside Elementary in Closter, Montebello Elementary in Suffern and at my fieldwork in the Pine Bush school district in Middletown. My experience with children on and off the spectrum has grown immensely throughout my years. My mother is a certified special ed teacher, and has involved me in camp programs, and one on one interactions, so I’ve learned how to not only communicate, but understand a child better and what they may be dealing with. I’ve worked also worked with several children individually who are on the spectrum and I’ve learned that my patience and willingness to connect and impact their lives positively has been one of the most rewarding experiences. Other than my work with children with special needs I have also worked with many children who do not require special needs attention, and in those circumstances I always try my best to engage and plan fun and interesting activities for them! The past couple summers I spend as a nanny. Most of my positions involve me being with the kids from 7:30 until 6 p.m. and I plan various outdoor actives including swimming, sports, arts and crafts and trips to the park! I am currently in school and I babysit for two different families as well, one family is during the week so I help their kids with homework, and after school activities and the other is on the weekends where we plan fun things to do while their parents are out to dinner. I’m fun, responsible and thoroughly enjoy what I do. I would say I’m well rounded and have lots of experience when it comes to child care. I have my own car and a clean driving record as well.
