My name’s Sam and I am currently a 3rd year nursing student enrolled at North Park University in Chicago. I’m involved in cross country and our campus ministries team.
When I was in high school, I babysat for ages 7+ and that experience followed into college. For the past year I’ve been regularly nannying/babysitting two little girls, ages 4 and 7. I’ve also volunteered tutoring at By The Hand ministries to both large groups of kids and one-on-one. My experience tutoring taught me not only how to manage but how to entertain groups of high energy children. I also have experience sporadically babysitting ages 9 and up. I am also heavily involved with World Vision, which is a charity organization that distributes water to Haiti and Africa. In the context of babysitting, both experiences require me to be a leader, to stay high energy for my teammates, and be genuinely interested and accommodate to my teammates input and thoughts. When I babysit, it’s important for me to recognize that I’m there to be fun and to entertain and to be thoughtful towards kids and their crazy, spontaneous ideas, but I’m still a leader and I still need to value what their parents value.
Now that I’m done with school for the next couple months for summer, I have an apartment downtown and am open to many different babysitting options and challenges. Being creative, being open to ideas, and staying optimistic are crucial bits of my perspective. I’m open to any suggestions, pets, or circumstances.
