A year ago, I graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Theatre and Latino/a Studies, and now I am pursuing a career in performance. I am high-energy, fun-loving, and passionate about nurturing and educating children.

While in school, I worked as a teacher’s aide for four years at Roycemore School in Evanston. While with the children, ages 6-12, I provided general supervision, played with students (both board/card games and sports), and helped with homework. Outside of the school year, I also worked at Roycemore’s summer day camp the past two summers. There, I planned and facilitated daily activities for kids grades 1st-7th (field trips, art projects, games, etc).

Before my summer days at Roycemore, I also worked as a full-time nanny for two kids (ages 6 and 8) in my hometown of Spokane, WA!

Since graduating from school, I have worked as both a Spanish/Art teacher at Ravenswood Elementary for K-5th grade and as a teacher’s assistant in the toddler room at Songbird Academy. I also taught music classes for 1-4 year-olds with the company Stomp and Shout, as well as occasional weekend babysitting for a 6-month-old. In this year, I have learned so much and gained so much experience with age groups I previously knew little about!

Children are amazing, and I am continually inspired by their curiosity and perception. At Northwestern I served on the executive board of Purple Crayon Players, a non-profit theatre company dedicated to producing inspiring, challenging and educational theatre for young audiences (www.purplecrayonplayers.com). I am passionate about using art (especially theatre, music and dance) to help children become more open, loving and empathetic individuals. I also speak fluent Spanish (I am part-Salvadoran!) and would be willing to help your kids begin to learn/practice the language.
