Write a messageHi families! My name is Abbie, and I bring over eight years of experience in childcare, youth education, and creative program development. I am CPR and First Aid certified, trained in trauma-informed practices, and deeply committed to creating nurturing, structured, and imaginative environments where children feel seen, safe, and inspired to grow.
My childcare journey began as a summer camp counselor at the YMCA, where I quickly realized how much I loved being a supportive and positive presence in young peoples lives. Since then, Ive cared for children across all age groupsfrom infants to toddlers, school-aged children, preteens, and teensin both private and educational settings.
Over the years, Ive taken on many roles: sitter, camp counselor, academic mentor, teaching assistant, and museum educator. Ive worked closely with families to provide structure and stability during after-school routines, evening care, school breaks, and transitions. In addition to home-based care, Ive worked in the education departments of major contemporary art museums, including the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, where I led hands-on family workshops, youth gallery tours, and inclusive programs for early learners. These roles helped me develop a creative, patient, and adaptable approach that I bring into every caregiving setting.
Im currently pursuing a dual Masters degree at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. My academic training, combined with years of hands-on childcare experience, allows me to bring a unique blend of creativity, calm leadership, and structure to every family I work with.
I have experience supporting children with diverse learning needs, including those with ADHD, anxiety, sensory sensitivities, and emotional regulation challenges.
As a sitter, Im here to do more than superviseI aim to be a reliable, intentional support system for your child and your familys rhythm. Im happy to assist with homework, light meal prep, creative activities, screen-free play, bedtime routines, and transportation. I love planning engaging art projects, reading together, outdoor walks, and helping kids feel both independent and cared for.
I value professionalism, clear communication, and mutual respect with every family I partner with. I understand how important it is to find someone you can trust with your children and your home, and I approach that responsibility with care, consistency, and intention.
