I have worked with children from Pre-K to High School over the last 8 years and it’s kept me happy and coming back for more every year.

I began as a camp counselor at the sleep away camp I attended as a child. Part of what makes me so great with kids is that I can remember what it was like to be one. I had a working mom who hired babysitters and sent me to after-school and to summer camp so that she could provide for my sister and I. I had such wonderful experiences that I wanted to give back and make sure other kids could enjoy those things too.

I worked with 13-15 year olds at the camp during the summer, and babysat for 2 children – a boy, age 12, and a girl, age 8 – during the year. I was a counselor and head teacher in an after-school program for elementary school children for two years after that, before I became a program director, running a day camp and then an after-school program for three years.

I had many responsibilities as a program director, my favorite of which was taking the time out of my day to talk to kids about their lives and how they were managing in school and in the program. A large part of the job was behavior management, parent correspondence, and first aid care.

After three years, I decided it was time for a change and began my certification to teach English as a second language. I am currently pursuing that certification and would love to be able to have a flexible schedule and take care of children at the same time.

I am CPR/First Aid Certified, as well as EPI-Pen Certified. I am kind, creative, energetic, patient and friendly. I am also well versed in the tactics of redirection, positive reinforcement, distraction and offering positive choices, that let children know who’s boss without making them feel steam-rolled.
