I have been working with children in multiple positions for the past 9 years. I started as a part-time babysitter and have gone on to work as a nanny, teacher assistant, family support counselor, and tutor. i have a bachelors degree in Education studies and critical pedagogy with a minor in the visual arts. As part of my senior thesis, I studied the correlation between home life and school life and created a critically minded curriculum that worked to bridge the gap between academic and cultural knowledge. I taught this curriculum as tutorial at North Star, a small self-directed learning center in Hadley, MA. For the past year I worked as a full-time nanny for two children, 4 and 2, in Los Angeles. Before that I was a family support counselor at a residential facility for youth with emotional and behavioral difficulties. I have worked with children between the ages of 4 months and 16 years. I love working both with children and families. I feel that I have an in-depth understanding of working with young people as unique individuals who each have their own way of living and interacting within the world.
