Hello. I am Melanie Adelman. I am a graduate student attending Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions in Charlestown for my Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. I was a camp counselor for two summers at Spring Lake Day Camp, where I supervised second and third grade children. I babysit throughout high school and college for numerous families. Additionally, for 4 summers, I worked at Rein Teen Tours, which is a traveling summer camp for teenagers. My job included communicating with parents of children who were traveling that summer, answering their questions and concerns, and relaying messages to the staff members leading specific tours. I have a great deal of experience communicating with parents. For approximately 5 summers, I volunteered at an after care program for children ranging from ages 4-18. I assisted them with their reading and writing skills, and would work on their homework from school, focusing on their area of difficulty. I will have my Master’s Degree as a Speech-Language Pathologist in August 2016. Working with children and assisting them to communicate more effectively is my passion.
